Figurative bas-relief in Toronto homes: faces, profiles, and one-off figures

Direct answer to “custom bas relief wall Toronto”, from on-site work in Ontario homes — not a product brochure.

Some of the studio work is not pattern. It is a face in profile, a figure with flowers at the shoulder, a hat and a turned head, a small winged form on a branch. Those are commissions. They are not a texture you pick from a fan deck.

Why this is a mural, not a finish

Venetian plaster is a surface. A figure is a composition. It needs a centre, a height that sits with eye line, and a decision about how realistic it should be. Yafalux builds these in plaster so they belong to the wall. A framed canvas would do a different job.

Where they belong

Dining walls, salon receptions, a bedroom accent, a stair landing. Not every GTA living room wants a face opposite the television. We will say no if the wall is the media wall and the relief would fight the screen. Gold crackle and floral jewellery on a figure are finish choices, confirmed on a sample, not assumed.

Process

Drawing on the wall, build, carve, finish. Red layout lines in the progress photos are the map, not the art. Clients who want to approve the pose should do it at drawing stage. Changing a nose after the plaster is high is a rebuild.

Common follow-up questions

Can you copy a portrait from a photo?

A likeness can be developed from references. It is a commission, scoped before work starts.

Is this the same price as a texture wall?

No. Figure work is priced on carving time, not only square footage.
